Greentree Art Studio offers individual or group art classes for students of all ages, in a light filled studio in idyllic Lake Oswego, Oregon. Established by artist Karen Haugan Tomlinson in 2014, the studio has seven pottery wheels, slab roller, an on-site kiln, and stainless steel work tables. Numerous glaze colors and finishes are available for students.Individualized instruction is offered in ceramic wheel throwing, and hand-building from beginning to advanced techniques and is designed around the interests and goals of students. Students can join into an on-going class or arrange private group lesson with their family or friends. Pottery Painting of stoneware pieces thrown by Karen are available for purchase glaze.This is another fun way to experience the studio with family and friends and BYOB and snacks!
All rates include firing of ceramic pieces. Aprons are provided.

Monthly Rates - $230 includes 6 hours of class per week and open studio time on Sunday 9am-9pm
$190 monthly rate includes either 3 hours of class per week and open studio time on Sunday 9am-9pm, or 6 hours of class per week with the second class substituting for the Sunday Open Studio
Class Schedule instruction and demos provided during these hours:
Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:30 AM-1:00 PM Saturday 10-2pm
Monday, Thursday 6:30-9:00 PM
Tuesday and Wednesday 5:30-9:00 PM
Students can change the day that they attend class each week to better fit their schedule. Monthly students don’t have to use their weeks consecutively if travel or life causes them to miss class for a week or two
Monthly Rate Students provide their own clay for use during class and open studio except for one class per month where students can sample various clay bodies on hand in the studio. Monthly students also contribute one pint of glaze per month. Clay can be purchased at the studio or at Georgies Ceramics. We are using cone 5/6 clay and glaze.
Occasional Ceramic Classes - $30 per hour per person
Greentree Punch Card $200=10 hours of studio time with or without individual instruction, materials included, to be used during class schedule listed above or during open studio Sundays, (students that want to attend just uninstructed open studio need to schedule one instructional class time first.)
Couples Rate- $230 per month for one class per week plus open studio time.
One time 90 minute Pottery Throwing Experience, Date Night,Team Building, Family and Friend Groups -$65 per participant. Fridays and Saturdays 2-9pm

Students receive 90 minutes of instruction on the pottery wheel and the chance to make 2 pieces. Participants can choose from five glaze finishes, which Karen will use to glaze their pieces, creating a finish which is food and dishwasher safe. Students will be contacted approximately 4 weeks after they attend a class to pick up their finished glazed creations. Pieces created and glazed will be held for 2 weeks after studio reaches out to schedule pick-up.

Choose from a wide variety of bowls, cups, vases, and plates, all hand-thrown by studio owner Karen Tomlinson to paint with underglaze or glaze. Prices start at $30 per piece including glaze, firing, and instruction. Experience the magic of glaze and our wide range of colors. All pieces are food and dishwasher safe. Bring your own beverages and snacks for a paint and sip experience!! Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings can be reserved for this class.
Classes for Children held during the school year only ages 6-12
Students will learn various hand-building techniques,such as pinching, coiling, slab building as well as wheel throwing! Imaginations will be engaged as students create and add texture and glaze to their finished pieces!

Art Making Class for Teens 10:00 am-noon and noon-2:00pm on Saturdays!
Students can receive instruction and create using clay, throwing on the pottery wheel, or sculpting and using coils and slab hand building techniques. Bring your ideas and creativity and enjoy making art in a fun and supportive atmosphere!

About The Teachers
Karen has enjoyed sharing her love of visual art with students both in Denver, Colorado and Lake Oswego, Oregon. She was an instructor of youth at the Art Students League of Denver for many years, as well as a teacher of ceramics, fine art, and art history at Regis Jesuit High School, Girls Division.
Since relocating to Lake Oswego in 2014, she has taught students privately at Greentree Art Studio and has been a substitute teacher in the Lake Oswego School District.
As an artist, Karen’s artwork has been included in many exhibitions including the Art of the State Juried Exhibition, Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, All Colorado Exhibition, 2013 Myhren Gallery, University of Denver Juried Alumni Show, 52nd International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Art, Chautauqua Institution, New York, and Texas National Juried Exhibition, Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas.
Eryn Tomlinson is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and a mom to 8 year old Aura, and 12 month old Husky Puppy, Remy. She loves sharing her love of art with children!
