Fun with Clay
Students can learn to use the pottery wheel to create functional vessels, while mastering the techniques necessary to create a variety of forms.
Students will also have the opportunity to use a variety of hand-building techniques to create sculptural pieces or to use one of the many plaster molds available at the studio for shaping clay. Pieces are glazed with food safe glaze.
Students can master the art of drawing by drawing from observation, as well as images.
Observation and representational skills will be sharpened, and various techniques for creating depth, perspective and texture will be explored.
Students can choose to experiment with water media, as well as oil painting while developing confidence with hue, shade, tint, tone, color-mixing, and texture. Students may choose their subjects and work in abstract or representational styles.

“Karen is an incredible teacher. I attend ceramics classes in her studio. She works with me on the wheel and hand building with my children. Her studio is well appointed with four wheels and a kiln. We go once a week and LOVE it!”

“The studio at Greentree is perfect - you can spend time learning to throw pottery on the wheels or work on learning hand building techniques. Karen is very talented and generous and allows you to focus on whatever you are interested in. We have been coming for almost a year and the studio is warm and inviting and there is an atmosphere of relaxed fun. I recommend Greentree enthusiastically!”
